Review:

Narasimha is the first book in the series of “The Mahaavatar Trilogy”. Kevin Missal the author of the very famous book Kalki has again blended the facts with fiction quite marvelously.  The book is a mythological fiction, I’m not a big fan of this genre but after this book I can think of reading this genre more.

The cover of the book is very beautiful and eye-appealing. It literally portrays that a lion looking like person killing a man and that’s what the story is all about.

There is not only one story but many stories running parallel to each other, but all weaved together in the same thread as one moves forward in the novel. Narasimha who was once a brave soldier, left his army to live as a physician in a small village but when he comes to know about a blind king Andhaka, who is pernicious on his own people and their lives, will he return back for his people and be able to get them out of this misery? To know what made him take this huge step and will he be able to surpass Andhaka, read this book.

Prahald, the interim king of Kashyapuri was way different from his father in many aspects. But, when he comes to know that his own people are plotting against him, he is torn between the ideals of righteousness of his father and his love for lord Vishnu. To find out whom will he choose or which way will he walk towards, read this book.

Hiranyakashyap, the ruler of Asura empire and the king of Kashyapuri is left with only one motive in life i.e. to avenge the death of his wife, Kayadhu. When, he returns to Pataal he come to know about, Lord Brahma’s trials and get his hands on the ultimate weapon – Brahmashastra. Many have lost their lives in the process, will he be able to survive? To know the story of Hiranyakashyap, read this book.

Thus, the book is a fight between devas, danavas, asuras and simhas. To know who wins against whom dive into this amazing book and let’s get to the root of the novel? Talking about the language of the book which is very simple and relaxed. The characters are well described. The pace of the story is little slow I would say but the concept kept me hooked till the last page.

A must read for all the mythological genre fans. The story ended on a cliffhanger. This book will definitely take you to the world of Illavarti and Mr. Kevin will not let you get bored with his flowy style of writing.
