  • WANT TO EXPLORE THE MIDDLE-GRADE GENRE, WHY NOT START WITH THE STORY OF CECE RIOS?

Venturing out with the middle-grade genre and confused about what to start with? I have this perfect recommendation – Cece Rios and the Desert of Souls, which will not only boost your interest in the genre and will also keep you coming back to it. This book got my interest too and rest you can be assured, that it won’t miss the mark.

  • PERFECT BADASS MC (MAIN CHARACTER)

This book has got the perfect bad-ass, feminist MC, i.e., Cecelia Rios aka Cece. She is spunky and our very beautiful young heroine who will become a bruja just like her Tia, to rescue her sister from one of the dark criaturas of Tierra De Sol– El Sombreron. She is fierce but at the same time, she is also soft-hearted. Her family is everything to her. She would fight any dark ciraturas to bring back her sister and reunite their family.

  • WORLD BUILDING IS STUNNING

The world-building is stunning. The whole town of Tierra De Sol, the land of brujas, curanderos, Tzitzimitl, and the criaturas is up for grabs with some amazing sand fantasies. The narration is spot-on which will keep you hooked thoroughly. Kaela has created a world, which is not only for kids for also for adults to read about Cece’s life which is not only enthralling but also inspiring and compelling.

  • #OWNVOICES

The author believes in the history and stories of her Mexican-American and British parents and it sincerely inspires her to write about them. One will encounter many Mexican traditions and cultural practices in the book, which only tells us one thing about Kaela that she is proud of her heritage and wants the world to know about them all through her books!

  • PERFECT PURE FRIENDSHIP AND SIBLINGS LOVE

Cece’s friendship with her ciraturas Coyote is pure yet comes naturally. Being a bruja comes with great power and indicating that you have to control your ciraturas, but with Cece, things are slightly different. She’s is nothing like her beautiful, young and lovely sister Juana, but she’s is ready to fight every battle to bring her dearest sister back from the Devil’s Alley and having her chance to bring her whole family together once again!

  • FANTASY INSPIRED BY LATINX MYTHOLOGY AND FOLKLORE, WHAT MORE CAN YOU ASK FOR?
